Mini Elves for a Doll House.

I was running short of clay so had to down size my sculpts, I made some really little folk to fit a Doll house.
They tested my eyesight big time, but I enjoyed making them, and their tiny clothes.

I didn't think tiny wings would stand up to a bashing around a little house, so made them with tiny pointed ears to be Elves. Meet Evie Elf, Annie Elf, and the terrible twins Tippy and Tilly Elves.
I have just got my first block of ProSculpt to try out, I usually just sick to Light flesh Fimo. So wish me luck with the new clay haha!

Another year has sped by so quickly. The Christmas preparations kept me so busy I almost missed the shortest day lol!

Now the days grow longer at last. I find it so difficult to work under a craft lamp. You just cant beat natural light.

As i have made a bed for my Sleeping Beauty, I have some photos to post, So here she is sleeping though the winter months, just as I wish I could do haha!.

Fairy Snow Queen.

I intended to just do a Snow Queen with this Doll for Christmas.
Then when she was finished, she looked so fairy like I just had to make her some wings.
The lovely Lady Sheila I made the http://ooak-fairy-fae.blogspot.com/2011/11/triumph-over-breast-cancer.html sculpt for, kindly donated a lot of the beads and sequins on this doll, I made her crown from them and sewed some on her dress.

A Christmas Carol. ( Scrooge )

Well Christmas is just around the corner and this post is a classic Christmas story.
Dickens " A Christmas Carol " I made Scrooge looking frightened out of his wits, as Jacob Marleys ghost comes a calling, rattling his chains of woe.

They are both poseable dolls, so a change of position is possible.

Triumph over Breast Cancer

This Sculpture was a very special commission,
A wonderful Lady I met online because of our mutual war with Breast Cancer, She contacted me and asked could I do her a Art Doll that had only one breast, not in any sad way, but to depict she can still celebrate her body, Is still a Woman who, yes she has battle wounds, but she overcame them to live and embrace life.
She chose a Moulin Rouge theme, Basque stockings Frills and full of life.
But definitely no false boob or reconstruction.
I totally loved doing this Sculpt, all her sentiments matched my own.

I hope you all like her, and in some small way she may show others just starting on the awful journey of Breast Cancer, that there is still the greatest triumph to come.

Rose Fairy

This little Fairy was a commission for a dear friend.
She asked for a fairy in a sitting cross-legged position, Incorporating a pink rose.
She intended to add her to a base of her own making which may have been a wooden mushroom. I will update when I know the final outcome.
It was to be a Christening gift, and Rose was the child's middle name, a very significant name to the family.

Halloween!

Well as the nights draw in and my Pumpkins ripen and turn Orange, You know its getting near!
HALLOWEEN !
On 31st of October the spirits can walk among us. YIKES!
I love it all really.
I am already preparing as you can see.
So here is Mavida ( my middle name mwhaaaa!....... no really, it is! ) and her friends,
cooking up a wicked brew. ( mine is a Black Russian please! Haha! )
This sculpt was so much fun,
Not having to try for a pretty fairy face was a welcome change,
Then I thought she needs a little ghoulish child in her grasping claws.
Then came the Pan like creature, and of course her Black Cat and cauldron.
I have to make a broom and add a bat of course,
Maybe on a pile of books full of mischief and spells,
Perhaps a Owl or Raven?

Now from an Angel to a Show Girl. I seem to go from one end of the scale to the other LOL!
This sculpt is smaller then usual. She is approx 5 inches tall.
her bra corset and pants and gloves are made of clay, The skirt is lace but her pink boots are clay.
The photos I took are not good and batteries are flat on my camera grrrr!
So I may change some photos later when Camera is back in action.

Little Ballerina Fairy

This is a little Ballerina Fairy I have made for a very sweet little girl called Olivia.
Olivia is my little half cousin, and she asked me to make her a fairy. She was very specific about what she wanted, So I hope she is pleased with her.
She has had a very long wait for a little girl, But at last she is finished.

Here is my little baby Fairy, She is called Tilly Tot.
I made her a few weeks ago but I have just made her wings.
I wanted them to be a little robust as she is so small, So I cut them from a plastic milk carton,
Then coverd them in fantasy film, pressed with my Iron between two sheets of grease proof paper.
It seems to have worked very well, so I may use this method again.

Carnival Fairy

This Fairy has taken me so long to do.
I have been very busy,but she has fought me all the way.
I have batterd her before she was baked. Droped her on the floor.
Stood on her hat. Had to make another one.
Dripped paint on her legs.had to scrape and sand again.
Grrrrr! she has been a nightmare, little minx.
She is now all done (I think ) just hope she dosn't take flight via one of the grandkids like many a poor little Fae has in the past hahaha!!!
I had a Hospital Reviw on Wednesday that probhably made me twitchy.
The good news is I dont have to go back for a whole YEAR!!!!!!! yes, YES, yes!!!!!!!!
I think I am going to live forever, Been singing that song since haha!

Already at work on another, who seems to be a tad more happy to be in my hands bless her.
(or am I just a lot calmer? )

Top Hat Fairy

My latest make is this Fae in a Top Hat. She has been a lot of fun to make as I love to work in Gothic black Gitz and glamour. I forgot to take a photo of what she is standing on.
It is a half sphere black, and lots of glitter.
The Glittery bits are not showing up very well in the photos, so maybe it dosnt matter really I havent shown the stand at all.

A Fairy Tale sculpt this time, I made this doll bendable at the joints and soft bodied.
I do like to set myself a challenge eh?

I must have been in a sewing mood for this one. All those clothes and beads are sewn on by hand YIKES!
I must have had a flashback to my childhood when I used to make clothes for my dolls.
She is fun to play with, putting her in different positions for her photo shoot, I really was having a second childhood haha!

Revamp of Pin up

I thought my Pin up was a little dowdy, so after I found a lovely little chair for her, I set to work and gave her some new Tibetan Lamb hair. Added a few Red ruffles to brighten her up.
The Easter break has meant I have had extra child minding, so hasn't been much time for sculpting.

The past week I have started on a new one I will show and tell at a later date. Just thought I would let you know what I have been up to LOL.

Fairy with a story.

This is the the fairy I thought looked like she had seen a ghost.
She has a little story about her creation, so here goes....
It is my Aunt's birthday quite soon and I was told she admired my Faeries.

Which I didn't realise she knew I even made them or ever saw them , My cousin had shown her my blog on his lap top. so I started this one for her.
Her brother was my father and he used to make wooden money boxes on a fairy theme, They were Fairy houses with little critters all around them, Squirrels, Butterflies and birds etc,
My Father has been gone almost 25 years now, but I still put all his crafting tools to good use.
I also kept all his finished and unfinished boxes and critters.
So for my Dads Sister I have added one of his little birds in her hand.
I think She will be quite pleased to receive them as a birthday gift, well I hope so.

I was working on this sculpt when it occurred to me, she kind of looks like she has seen a Ghost LOL!
So I took some photos and added a little spectre with Paint shop just for the fun of it.
She is going to be a Fairy of course, but a little fun on the way wont hurt eh?
Now for a reality check, and back to work hehehe!

Well I finally got around to doing the larger sculpt I promised myself I would do.

She was so much fun to Sculpt.
I made her entirely of clay ( no fabric clothing ). Which was a challenge, but its all a learning curve.

Maid of the Ocean

Its a long time since i made a Mermaid, This one i used Pearlised clay for her tail, which I think looks pretty.
Her fins are made from Fantasy Film on wire.
I need to make her a base which I find the most tedious grrr! I am too keen to start my next Idea.
I seem to have a lot of sculpts laid around that just need a base that I never get inspired to do haha!

Its crazy how they just seem to emerge out of the clay.

I think she is a bit raggedy but beautiful all the same.
She stole some old net curtains from the humans to make her dress.

Breast Cancer Art project

My recent brush with the dreaded word Cancer led me to a forum of fellow sufferers. I found support and realms of wisdom there, but most of all, Fantastically brave women of all ages and persuasions.
A wonderful girl I met there named Anna has envisioned a Art project, to raise funds and awareness of Breast Cancer.
While many a brave lass is going to pose for a calendar (not me hahaha!!!)
Any Art work that expresses our feelings is more than welcome, and to be exhibited then auctioned .
So of course my input had to be a sculpt eh?
I found this harder than I thought in many ways. My sculpting has been my escape from the dark place I have been. Sculpting fantasy figures far from the reality I was facing If you see what I mean? However I did my best to stick to the truth of what my feelings and unexpected sorrow of losing all my hair felt like (not the breast, just wanted rid of that AHH! ) in the sculpt.
Anyway to cut to the chase friends, Here's my offering.
Its not pretty. But it was never meant to be.

Well at last here is my Genie, She was a tad taxing working out how to have her emerging from the bottle, vase or whatever. I eventually made a sort of plug attached to her base, made of the same clay.
I have messed up the photos a bit trying out photo shop. I think I will have to read some tutorials eh?
I brought the vase back as a souvenir from Majorca, many moons ago.
Oh well here's a bit of work in progress.

Glitter Reindeer

Hi, I have been sculpting some Reindeer this week. I painted them white and am putting iridescent glitter all over them. I am in the process of making a large one so they can be a little family under my Christmas tree.
Hope they survive the Grand kids in such a precarious place haha!!
Will post more photos when the big one is finished.
Its been fun working on Animals for a change. However they could end up with a fairy on their back or pulling a sled with a Snow Queen aboard hehe!

I don't seem to have time to sculpt the Angel I started because of daily hospital treatments. The light goes so quickly now.
So I have started to make these babies as they are pretty quickly made before I am rushing off to the Hospital. You just HAVE to craft LOL.
They are great fun to make, but cant wait until last treatment Dec 2nd. Then I can get some serious sculpting done at long last eh?

I made this doll with joints at the hip's, shoulders, elbows, knees and ankles. Its the first time I have jointed a sculpt. I thought it would be much nicer to be able to move her pose and she would look more relaxed. It was a bit of a learning curve but that's what I want eh? I might have a go at her Prince Charming next LOL
I think I mat lose this one to my daughter, or one of the Granddaughters haha!

Another Steampunk Fairy. I love the cogs and wheels bits and bobs of the old watches.
I enjoyed making her velvet top hat too.
I made this fairy trying to escape. She is looking wistfully through the window into the garden. I took a photo of her looking in a mirror as the sheen on the window made her unclear

I could put her in a bottle or some sort of vessel. Will look see if I have anything suitable.

Now for a bit of fun. This little onel cant get her dancing shoes on, AWW!!! Bless her.
I had my middle granddaughter in mind with this one, Haha! We have a video of her having the same trouble. I could put wings on her but thought It just might over do her.
What do you think friends?
Maybe as she has Fairy ears, I better get busy with some pretty wings eh? xxx

My Great News (SOLD)

I went for operation results and was told all the cancer has all been removed, thank God. I had a level 3 tumor and 10 lymph gland removed. I still have Chemo and Radio therapy treatments to complete lasting up to around Christmas. That is no price to pay for my life friends.
I have made a Angel in thanks, for surely the Angels have blessed me these past weeks.
I have as usual her wings to make haha! but here is what I have so far.

Sorry for not being around friends. I have to go into hospital tomorrow for a Mastectomy. Once I am through the op and on the mend I will be back to catch up on all your comments.
Meanwhile I have still been sculpting away LOL. This clay has been my therapy.
Here are a few I have been making though I haven't got around to doing all of their wings yet.
The best news is my baby granddaughter arrived 28th May at 8pm. Her name is Erin and she is the most beautiful baby I have ever held.I just love my three granddaughters all the world and back again. xxx

I am going to enter this one in the OOAK Guild challenge. I know I wont win but, as soon as I read the challenge I had to get sculpting. It just fired my creative juices LOL. Heres the challenge-
This months challenge will focus around a fantasy masquerade theme, Your entry can be either be male of female and must be a sculpt and the only requirement is that your entry include a mask, your sculpt can either be wearing or holding one just so long as your entry has on incorperated somewhere in your creation.

I made a sleeping fairy at the weekend. Took the photo with my new camera that has a macro option. Much better quality pictures than my old phone. I am thrilled to bits with it. Only thing is I need a memory card now. 6 photo's and I have to free up the memory.But what a difference to the photography eh?

Been busy again ha ha!! I am on a roll me thinks. Just finished this Can Can dancer today.
The photos are poor but I have to use my phone. The good new is..... I am getting a camera for my birthday soon. I cant wait. There will be a major re shoot of all my bits of clay LOL. Hope you like her, She was great fun to sculpt.

This is my second mermaid sculpt. I have had great fun making her. I made a tool to make the scales on her tail form a tutorial at the Ooak Guild.I think it has turned out quite effective. Hope you like her.
What now then ?
I will have to think about what is next. maybe a male again. I haven't had a go at a male sculpt since Jack Sparrow .
